The Magickal Signs of the First Order, which are of the elements and of Opening and Closing the Veil, are described in the paper entitled The Scroll of the Pentagram Formulae for the First Order under the section of the paper entitled “The Pentagram Formula for the Dominis Liminis”. The Magickal Signs of the Adepti are described in this paper, including those related to the Virgin Daughter. These relate to the Work of the Second Order, which has the focus of attaining to the Third Order.
The Magickal Signs
of the Childe of Tiphareth
These are the LVX Signs, which assist the Childe of Tiphareth in formulating the Zodiacal belt about the Sphere (with Aries in the east) by revolving the Childe’s consciousness about the Sphere in the order of the Zodiac. They further assist the Childe in connecting to the Spiritual Sphere of the 6, which is Tiphareth on the Tree of Life, by moving the Childe to the center of the Yitziratic Hexagram which is formulated on the floor of the Childe’s Sphere. The LVX Signs invoke the Light of Tiphareth, which is the Light of the Sun, and are a means for Invoking the Holy Guardian Angel in the consciousness of the Childe. They are most typically made in the Center of the Sphere after performing a Yitziratic Hexagram Ritual of the Sun (traditional or unicursal hexagrams may be used in a ritual of this nature) while facing east. They may, however, be used creatively in each quarter of the Sphere or alone in any instance (with or without any other ritual) as a means to invoke the Spiritual Energies of Tiphareth and the Holy Guardian Angel. These Signs may be made mentally or physically with equal success, as follows:
· Make the Sign of the Cross is made standing, looking straight forward, the right heel is placed in the arch of the left foot, the arms are outstretch to the side so they are parallel with the shoulders, palms out. When doing so, say “The Sign of Orus”.
Commentary: This Cross is initially the Cross of the
Elements or the Cross of Suffering. The
Work of the Childe of Tiphareth is to turn this Cross to the Gold of the
Sun. This is done by placing the
elements of the Childe’s Sphere under the Presidency of the Name (YHVH) by
formulating the Zodiacal Belt about the Sphere and the four Pillars of the
· L – Feet remain in position, raise the right hand so the right arm is extended straight up with the palm open and facing to the left and moved to slightly over the head, the left arm is down and bent at the elbow so the bottom part of the arm is horizontally extended to the left of the body. While doing this, look left and say “The Sign of the Dance of Asi”.
· V – Feet remain in position, raise both hands over the head so the arms are extended in the shape of a “V” with palms tilted outwards, direct your consciousness behind you while looking forward and say - “The Sign of the Joy of Iacchus.” This is also the Sign of Triumph commonly used in other rituals of the Sanctuary.
· X – Feet remain in position, cross both forearms over the chest, left over right (to show the arm corresponding with the Pillar of Mercy on the embodied Little Tree as “active” so to speak and the arm corresponding with the Pillar of Severity on the embodied Little Tree as “passive” so to speak), make fists with the hands, and say - “The Sign of the Blazing Star”.
· Direct your consciousness forward, make the Sign of the Cross again and the Sign of the Blazing Star again while saying “LVX, Lux, the Light of the True Cross”. This completes the making of the LVX Signs. May the Yitziratic Hexagram formed on the Little Tree which you embody shine like the Sun and the Cross of the Elements turn to Gold! Amen.
Commentary: Note that, if you are standing in the Center of the Sphere while you make the LVX Signs:
o While making the Sign of the Cross, you will be looking east in the place of Aries which is the cardinal sign of Fire on the Zodiacal belt.
o While making the Sign of the Dance of Asi, you will be looking to the north in the place of Cancer which is the cardinal sign of Water on the Zodiacal belt.
o While make the Sign of the Joy of Iacchus (the Sign of Triumph), your consciousness will be directed to the west in the place of Libra which is the cardinal sign of Air on the Zodiacal belt.
o While making the Sign of the Blazing Star, your consciousness will be directed to the south in the place of Capricorn which is the cardinal sign of earth on the Zodiacal belt.
o While making the final Sign of the Cross and Sign of the Blazing Star, your consciousness is again being directed to the east, completing the Circle of the Zodiacal Belt as you complete this aspect of your invocation. Go forth now Childe of Tiphareth in the Light and Love of your Holy Guardian Angel. Amen.
The Magickal Sign
of the Childe of Geburah
The Magickal Sign of the Childe of Geburah is Puer – the Boy. The Childe of Geburah has realized the equation of 5 = 6 described above. Adepthood has been attained. The Childe is like a young Majestic King or Queen who now Works in the Knowledge and Conversation of His Holy Guardian Angel.
The Work of the Childe of Geburah involves a ripening of Adepthood into a phase of adulthood, as the Childe evolves into a Mighty Warrior of God who does only True Will (from the perspective of Geburah) and nothing else. The Childe is evolving as a Pure Vessel for the Angel. The Childe has consciously connected the movement of the elements of the Childe to the dominion of the Holy Guardian Angel. However, this has not been fully assimilated as of yet in the consciousness of the Childe. The Childe now is to realize the equation of 6 = 5, which shows that the Holy Guardian Angel has complete dominion over the Childe’s thoughts, words and deeds. The Angel moves the Childe. In the process of Initiation into these Mysteries, an occult “death” of sorts occurs, as the Childe realizes human being to be nothing but an extension of the Angel’s Being and the Childe is rid of any qliphotic parts.
The Childe’s Eye has been rightly focused. Preliminary Second Order initiations have been attained. The Childe of Geburah now moves from the Lower Astral Plane (represented by the Yitziratic Hexagram which had formulated on the floor of the Childe’s Sphere) to the Upper Astral Plane or Solar Plane (represented by the Heavenly Hexagram which will formulate on the floor of the Childe’s Sphere). The Solar Plane has its own magickal formulae which have been aptly described in other papers issued by the Sanctuary. It is said that Magickal Power is granted to the Childe of Geburah, as the Angel now performs the Holy Magick through the Childe.
As the Angel acts through the Childe, the Magick is performed by a simple concentration and direction of the Powers of the Mind. These Mysteries are revealed through the symbolism of the Wand of the Childe of Geburah, which is the Phoenix Wand. They are also revealed by the Sign of Puer, which invokes the Spiritual Energies of Geburah and may be used to direct the Mars Force as appropriate in the Great Work. The Sign may be made mentally or physically with equal success, as follows:
· Stand, looking straight forward in the direction appropriate to the invocation or projection, the right heel is placed in the arch of the left foot, the right hand is raised with the arm bent at the elbow so the palm is open and facing outwards before the right shoulder with fingers spread apart, the left hand is placed before and against the genitals with the thumb extended straight out horizontal to the body with the remaining fingers curled to the palm.
· Nothing is said while making this Sign.
Commentary: The right hand shows a projection of the Pentagram, which is formed by the presentation of the hand. The Pentagram is a symbol of Geburah and the manifest Powers of the All-Father of Chokmah. The left hand shows a projection of the regenerative power which is the Mars Force from perspective of the Childe’s present Work on the Tree of Life.
The Magickal Signs of the Childe of Chesed
The Magickal Sign of the Childe of Chesed is Vir – the Man or King. The Childe has evolved from a young Majestic King or Queen as a Childe of Tiphareth, to a Mighty Warrior of God doing only True Will as a Childe of Geburah and now must evolve into a Mighty King or Queen as a Childe of Chesed. This is done by and through attaining the Power to Love and what is known as the Balances. From the perspective of the Childe of Chesed, the Power to Love, which is to Love All in every thought, word and deed, is conferred by Babalon the Beautiful, who is a lower aspect of Nuit. Pray to Babalon for the Power to Love All, and to Silence the Waters to all but Her Desire which is His Will. Love balances Will, so the Fire of Will does not burn. Said another way, Love tempers Will. This is shown most directly by the Feminine Nature of the Paths leading from Chokmah, which is the Pure Fire of Will, the Chia or Life Force, expressed from the Supernal Realm. Chesed manifests the purest expressions of these Spiritual Energies below the Abyss. The Sign of Vir shows the nature of this expression. It may be made mentally or physically with equal success, as follows;
· Stand, looking straight forward in the direction appropriate to the invocation or projection, the right heel is placed in the arch of the left foot, both hands are raised to the sides of the head slightly above and before the ears, the thumbs point out and forward bent at the knuckle, and the other four fingers of each hand are curled to the palms.
· Nothing is said while making this Sign.
Commentary: The Sign of Vir may be made to invoke the Spiritual Energies of Chesed and project the Serpent-Power (which is the Chia expressed from the perspective of Chesed) in the Great Work. The Serpent Power precedes the Mars Force. The Sign itself further shows the Balances, to be attained by the Childe of Chesed as noted above and other papers issued by the Sanctuary.

of the Virgin Daughter
The Power
to Love washes the Childe and makes the Childe pure and chaste. As the Childe of Chesed receives Initiation
in the “inner”, the Childe will express the purest Will currents balanced by
Love below the Abyss. The Childe sees
All as God and, thus, Loves All as God.
The Childe still embodies the Little Tree, which distinguishes the
Childe as a member of the Second Order.
When the Little Tree is refined and honed to Perfection, the Childe will
attain to the
On the Heavenly Hexagram, Venus is attributed to the Sphere of Chesed and Jupiter moves to its rightful position in the place of the Sphere of Kether. Thus, as the Childe attains to Chesed in the “inner” on the Heavenly Hexagram, the Sign of Puella – the Girl or Virgin Daughter - follows the Sign of Vir. This is the first of the Magickal Signs of the Virgin Daughter. The Childe then aspires to attain to Binah.
As further described in other papers of the Sanctuary, in order to attain to Binah, the Little Tree of the Virgin Daughter must be “broken”, which means the Holy Guardian Angel of the Childe (attributed to the Little Tree as the Son) must be sacrificed by no other than by the Hand of God. The Childe will then temporarily embody the Great Tree, as the Childe stands before the Holy One in Kether and the Supernal Mother in Binah and the Supernal Father in Chokmah. Even this Great Tree is then left behind as the Childe’s vessel is emptied and filled with the Essence of the All-Mother. The Childe will then enter the Supernal Triangle as the Great Mother and Work as a Childe of Binah.
The second of the Magickal Signs of the Virgin Daughter, who is in the process of making this Journey, is called the Sign of Babalon, who is attributed to Binah. On the Heavenly Hexagram, the Moon is attributed to Binah. Thus, this Sign shows through symbolism the process of making the Journey first by embodying the Great Tree and then by receiving the Essence of the All-Mother and Becoming wholly the Great Mother.
The Magickal Signs of the Virgin Daughter may be made mentally or physically with equal success, as follows:
· The Sign of Puella – Stand, the right heel is placed in the arch of the left foot, the right hand covers the left breast with palm open on the body, the left hand covers the genitals with palm open on the body, and the head is tilted down and slightly to the left with an attitude of innocence.
· The Sign of Babalon – Stand, feet spread wide apart, heels under the shoulders and feet at 45º degree angles, the arms lifted above the head and bent at the elbows with hands arched inward and the palms out, the head is tiled down. This is also known as the Sign of Mulier. When making this Sign, visualize the Little Tree being “broken” and pushed away, and replaced by the Great Tree.
· The Childe is silent when making these Signs.
May the Virgin Daughter arise from the progression in the Sign of Maters Triumphant. This concludes the Magickal Signs which represent a crossing of the Abyss.
Ultimate success of the Virgin Daughter is conferred by a Ritual performed by the Holy One which relates to the Mysteries of Atu VI entitled the Lovers. This is the hallmark of when the Childe is in Truth admitted as a Member of the Holy Third Order and Becomes a Member of the Body of God.
To attain unto Binah, a Virgin Daughter must overcome the Abyss. The symbolism of the “Abyss” shows there is a separation between God and man. This is the Grand Illusion. There is no separation between God and man except in the consciousness of man. The Daughter is the Mother. God is man. Once rid of any qliphotic parts, and made pure and chaste, the Virgin Daughter may Reverse the Great Curse and undergo these holy transformations to arise newborn to Understanding as a Childe of Binah ever to the Glory of God. Amen.
Love is the Law, Love under Will.
