THE AUGURIES FOR THE
2008 AUTUMNAL EQUINOX

A ritual to commemorate the 2008 Autumnal Equinox was performed by Frater AHBH AL (Brian Goldstein) on behalf of the members of the Sanctuary of Thoth.[1]
This paper provides an analysis of the Auguries received during the Ritual on behalf of the members.
The Word of the Equinox: “voluptuous” from Chapter I, Verse 61 (I:61) of the Book of the Law. The Word is from the second to last sentence of I:61, which is part of a call by Nuit for Her Children to come to Her, describing Herself, and indicating – “Pale or purple, veiled or voluptuous, I who am all pleasure and purple, and drunkenness of the innermost sense, desire you” (emphasis added).
The word “voluptuous” is defined in Webster’s Handy College Dictionary as seeking, affording or suggestive of pleasure. In the context of verse I:61, the “pleasure” being sought is the type that comes from True Religion, which excites the divine in man, produces an exalted excited ecstatic state of spiritual “intoxication” and assists man in realizing the glory of His Soul.
In Hebrew, the word “voluptuous” would be spelled as follows: Vau (6), Ayin (70), Lamed (30) Vau (6), Pe (80), Tau (400), Vau (6), Ayin (70), Vau (6) and Shin (300). This adds to 974. No corresponding words were found in analyzing the gematria of the Word. This suggested that the number 974 was to be analyzed numerically and mathematically.
From a numerical perspective, the
number 974 reduces to 20 (9 + 7 + 4). This
could be viewed as a reference to the Hebrew letter Kaph (whose number is 20)
and the corresponding Atu (which has correspondence to Jupiter and our
discussion of the number 31 below).
However, we are guided here to interpret this number as referencing the
two Atus numbered 0 and 2. Atu 0 is
entitled the Fool and is attributed to the Path of Aleph. Atu 2 is entitled the High Priestess and is
attributed to the Path of Gimel. The
High Priestess is the Virgin Moon, whose Path (leading from Kether to
Tiphareth) is perfectly balanced on the Tree of Life. The Autumnal Equinox is marked by Sol
entering Libra, which is ruled by Venus.
The Venus of Libra (represented on Atu VIII entitled Adjustment) is a
lower aspect of the High Priestess of the Path of Gimel. She is also the feminine counterpart of the
Fool. Together, the letters of their
corresponding Paths form the word
From a mathematical perspective, 974 = (31 x 31) + 13. Note the interplay of the numbers. The number 31 is a reference to God, the Key to Liber Legis and Nuit, our Lady of the Stars, who again we note spoke the verse containing the Word. She is the Great Circle and Our Beloved Lady in the Highest. She is shown on Atu XVII, which is entitled the Star and attributed to the letter H, which is Heh Tetragrammaton. Through extension, She is also the Daughter, which is Heh Final Tetragrammaton. 13 = AHBH = Love, or Beloved. Also, 13 = AChD, which means Unity. Thus, we see through this mathematical formula Nuit extending Herself through multiplication, with Love and Unity in the equation.
Tarot Card for the Equinox: Queen of Disks. The Court Cards represent the four letters of the Tetragrammaton (YHVH) and the four Elements. The Queen references the first letter H or Heh Tetragrammaton, which is attributed to the Mother. The Disks symbolize the Element of Earth, which is created by and through a combination of the other Elements. The Queen of Disks represents the watery aspect of Earth, which suggests fertility and points to the role of matter in the process of Creation and the Great Work.
I-Ching Hexagram for the Equinox: 34, Ta Chuang / The Power of the Great, the Creative (Heaven) below and the Arousing (Thunder) above.
The hexagram is comprised of strong
yang lines occupying the first four places and weaker yin lines occupying the
last two places, which shows the power of heaven in a state of movement. It is said that all power is given to the
Scarlet Woman. This to the Woman who is
in
Great magickal formula is shown
here. Consider all what has been said
above. It speaks to a common theme. As the strength of heaven is given to the
Woman (who is Heh Tetragrammaton), so it flows through the Daughter who is an
extension of the Woman (and Heh Final Tetragrammaton). The Mother is the Daughter. There is Unity in Her extension. This is also shown in that the Malkuth of the
30th Aire is part of the Malkuth of the Ancient Holy Tree in Kether,
as is the entire Universe below It. She
is Love, Compassion and Understanding, Pure and Perfect. She was extended by the Great Curse causing
the Fall of Man to manifest Him below what came to be known as the Abyss, which
is the Grand Illusion. There is no
separation between man and God, except in the consciousness of man. We are Her Children. You are a Childe of God. She is calling you and showing you the way of
return. By acting rightly, in accord
with Heaven, and embodying Her Love, Compassion and Understanding, you may
truly reverse the Curse of the Fall of Man, reclaim your starry heritage and
enter what some have called
Our Beloved Lady of the Stars calls
to you, and guides through these auguries.
Heed Her call, ever glorifying and praising the Holy Names of God!
