A Ritual to Celebrate the Festival of the Equinox was performed by ACh LA (Brian Goldstein) on behalf of the Children of Nuit, at the Sanctuary of Thoth shortly after Sol entered Aries commencing Anno IVxvii (105) in this New Aeon of Horus (March 20, 2009 e.v.).[1] This paper provides an analysis of the Auguries received during the Ritual, and related discourse, to assist all of Nuit’s Children in their Holy Work.
The Word of the Equinox: “Supreme” from Chapter II, Verse 40 of Liber Legis (II:40).
The entire text of II:40 reads – “A feast for the Supreme Ritual, and a feast for the Equinox of the Gods.” Therefore, in the context of the verse, the Word is a reference to the Supreme Ritual. Before discussing this, let us consider the Word itself.
In Hebrew, “Supreme” could be spelled two ways. One way would be Shin Vau Peh Resh Mem, which adds to 626 or 1186 depending on whether you count the final Mem as 40 or 600. The other way would be to include a “Heh” in the place for each “e”, which would change the numerical values by adding 10 (5 for each Heh), resulting in total values of 636 or 1196. We find little correspondence between any of these numbers, which suggests our analysis should be mathematical, based on the images created by the numbers and/or simply based on the plain language meaning of the Word. We consider them all.
From a mathematical perspective, 626 reduces to 14 which reduces to 5, and 1186 reduces to 16 which reduces to 7. Considering the other set of values, 636 reduces to 15 which reduces to 6, and 1196 reduces to 17 which reduces to 8. Images of First and Second Order work arise from these numbers before and after reduction. More specifically, we see the Fire of Geburah being applied to effect change, and specifically transformations to those Children who are working through the final stages of the First Order and those in the early stages of Adepthood. We have a new Zodiacal Year. This is a time of new beginnings allowing us to rise fresh and new to seize the opportunities which will present themselves in the time ahead. This is a time of great change. We have a new Day ahead of us Children. Reach for Change, and create stability in the process. Assist right change through your own Great Work. Evolve, and assist in the evolution of all of mankind by means of your evolution.
Those who are working through the final stages of the First Order and the early stages of Adepthood are Becoming ever more refined Fountains of the Supernal Influx. Your Work is perhaps more important now than ever. You are called to Holy Duty. You are needed. Mankind needs you. The Gods need you. Assist in their Great Work, which is yours. Assist your fellow man. The more evolved you are, the more you can assist. Your aid is requested and needed.
The evolution of every Childe is important – no one is excepted, no one is to be left behind. However, those on the cusps of important attainments must need to attain to take the next Great Step on the Royal Path. This will further and quicken the Initiation of all of mankind. We need to Work more now than ever Children. Embrace the 93 Current of Sol in Aries. Use these magickal currents that are available to rightly plant “seeds”, which are to be nurtured, so they may grow magickally and spiritually to their utmost maximum beneficial and correct potential, and in the most beneficial powerful correct and efficient way during this Solar Year, during this Solar Tide and during this Solar Cycle. Take advantage of the opportunities which are available to you and within your grasp. Allow the Eye to open unto them and, once seen, seize them. There is a call to right action. Take action in and through your magickal practice. The focus is on Action.
The word “Supreme” is defined in Webster’s Handy College Dictionary as an adjective meaning “highest” or “utmost”. In the context of this divination, the Word stresses the nature of the Call to Action, which is Supreme or of the highest and utmost importance. It is also a Call to Action by God to perform the Holy Work. This is the Word of the Supreme Being or God. Such is the nature of the Divination.
We also speak now of the Supreme Ritual. There is a paper written by Aleister Crowley which describes the Supreme Ritual. The specifics of his paper are unimportant for present purposes. What is important is guiding how the sexual act (involved in the rite) may be rightly used to further our evolutionary goals. The sexual act placed in a magickal context is called the “Supreme Ritual”. Other magickal systems may call the practice by different names, but the magickal formulae is, essentially, always the same.
The sexual act, whether solitary or with another person, brought to conclusion will always produce a Magickal Childe. Said another way, magickal “seeds” will be sent forth and planted (as a result of the act) in the Womb of the Goddess, which will respond by the production of something. There is cause and there will be an effect. Therefore, sex magick must be practiced responsibly. Further, it must be on a consensual basis when involving another.
The sexual act itself, while in progress, produces great magickal currents which can and must be concentrated, focused and directed to the Great Work. Once aware of these matters, Right Coitus must be practiced every time, without exception. The fluids produced from the act are also highly charged magickal fluids, which may be applied or consumed as you may know how in your practice.
Sex magick, rightly performed, can greatly assist the evolution of Children of the First and Second Orders, and especially those at the stages referenced above. Therefore, the divination of the Word of the Equinox in the context of verse II:40 has been taken as a both a direction and an opportunity to address these delicate matters.
Tarot Card for the Equinox: King (Knight) of Swords.
For the first time ever at the
Sanctuary, this Childe was moved to make the Divination of the Tarot Card for
the Equinox using the Rider-Waite Tarot deck (as opposed to

Throne, wears the Crown upon his Holy Head and holds the Sword upright. He wears the
As a King (or Knight), this Card corresponds with Yod Tetragrammaton, Atziluth and the Fire of the All-Father. It further corresponds with Fire of Air. The Will of God is being expressed and finds expression through the Air. There is a tempest of change. Consider our present times. Is this not the case?!
From a Zodiacal perspective, the Kings (or Knights) find expression in the 10 degrees before, and the first 20 degrees of, the mutable Zodiacal Sign of the Element to which the Card relates. (Similarly, the Queens find expression in the 10 degrees before, and first 20 degrees of, the cardinal Zodiacal sign to which the Card relates, and the Princes find expression in the 10 degrees before, and the first 20 degrees of, the fixed Zodiacal Sign to which the Card relates.[3]) Here, we are dealing with the King of Swords, so this points to the period in this Zodiacal Year relating the last 10 degrees of Taurus and the first 20 degrees of Gemini. Referencing Sol’s position in the Heavens, this will occur approximately between May 11, 2009 and June 11, 2009. Consider how these dates are expressed numerically. May 11th is 5/11, which can be taken as expressing the equation 5 = 6. June 11th is 6/11, which can be taken as expressing the equation of 6 = 5. The Work of the evolving Childe of Tiphareth and Childe of Geburah is indicated by these equations. Initiations are to occur during this time frame. Are you ready?! Is this your time?!
The Call to Action has been made. The garrisons are being strengthened. Prepare.
Attaining the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel is the first great step on the Royal Path, which allows the Childe of Tiphareth to arise as a young Majestic King or Queen, who Works by and for the Crown according to the Word of His Angel. As the Childe learns to move solely in the Way of the True Will, and do nothing else, the Childe evolves into a Mighty Warrior of God, who does no-thing but God’s Word perceived through the Word of the Angel. In this New Aeon, the Great Initiation is of the Childe of Geburah in the “inner”. This expresses the Nature of Horus, who is a God of War. This, however, must be further explained.
The “War” we speak of here is not necessarily the war of man. Rather, it is the War or Action of God to evolve the Children magickally, spiritually and materially so they may rightly serve God, and thereby better assist in the evolution of mankind. The “War” we speak of here is reversing the Great Curse, which caused the Fall of Man. God embraces this War, which is of Love (not hate). The Angels are “militant” in this New Aeon, meaning They have been given the charge to effect change by using drastic measures if necessary. Have we not seen this in the last 105 years?! Consider in more recent times the changes in the financial markets, terrorism and all of the crime and natural disasters. What will it take to cause the Children to turn their Eye to God and pray for change? What will it take to cause the Children to undertake the Great Work of their own magickal and spiritual Initiation so they may rightly serve God and man?
Look around you at all the beautiful faces and cultures. They are all expressions of God. However, as has been explained in other papers issued by the Sanctuary, the Great Curse which caused the Fall of Man gives every Childe who is born of this Earth a Nephesch or animal soul and will. The “animal within” must be tamed, and placed in service of Spirit, to reverse the Great Curse. After the animal has been so tamed, it is stripped away as the Childe realizes the equation of 5 = 6 in the “inner”, is initiated into the upper Astral Plane (which is also called the Solar Plane), and begins the Work of the Childe of Geburah expressed by the equation of 6 = 5.
The animal within desires and craves sensual pleasure and satisfaction of the physical senses. No God will deny you these, when the Eye is rightly focused on Divine Love. However, initially, these turn the Eye down, which causes the Pentagram within the Childe to be averse. The averse Pentagram is the Sign of the Devil of Atu XV, which shows things are not right. The animal will must be used to direct the Eye to God and Divine Love, and set the Pentagram aright. This is your sole choice as a human. If you do this, the Angels teacheth and you will evolve rightly. If you do not, the demons teacheth, and there will be pain, suffering and dis-ease until you are moved to make the change.
Most (nay almost all) of mankind is consumed with greed, matters of money, the want of material things and sensual pleasure and satisfaction. The volatile financial markets are assisting in changing human perspective in this regard. Without as much money, people are forced to focus on how they may rightly lead their Holy Lives and find inner peace and happiness. Things must change. Things will change. Prepare your self.
As with any Holy War, there will be casualties. Children will get caught in the “cross-fire”. This is necessary to cause change. Change fosters stability. Consider, therefore, how you may help through your own magickal practices, and evolving as you are Called by God.
The Members of the Holy Third Order are building an Army of Adepts, who will also evolve to the Third Order at their appointed times. As for those of you who are close to being admitted to the Second Order or to the Work of the Childe of Geburah, you are encouraged to Work hard now to prepare, to not desire Initiation but Work out of duty, which is the right attitude towards the Work. If it is your time, you will be so moved to take the next Great Step on the Royal Path during this period. You will then be better equipped to assist others in their Great Work and evolving to fulfill their Holy Duties.
The period of May 11, 2009 through June 11, 2009 will be a period of Great Initiation. No matter where you are on the Royal Path, you are encouraged to use the energies leading up to this period to prepare and evolve. This is how to rightly use the Energies of the Fire Tide, by setting in motion currents to further your Great Work. Now is the time. All are encouraged to take the next Step on the Royal Path during this period if you are so moved by God. Hear thou the Call of God!
I-Ching Hexagram for the Equinox: The 6th Hexagram, Sung/Conflict (the Creative/Heaven above and the Abysmal/Water below), changing into the 10th Hexagram, Lu/Treading [Conduct] (the Creative/Heaven above and the Joyous/Lake below).
The 6th Hexagram gives the image of conflict as heaven and water appear to be moving apart or in opposite ways. This is not so, but is guiding as conflict signals things are not right. When things are not right, we must stop and consider our positions in relation to that of others as an impartial observer or a Compassionate Witness of the events. What is happening? What are we being told? What is not right? What must be corrected? Conflicts are signals that change is necessary. As Initiates, we must be clear headed and inwardly strong to assess every situation and act as Symbols of Truth and Justice in all that we do. We must carefully consider our positions in all of our undertakings, and act rightly through every thought, word and deed. Success comes from a unity of forces. Movement must be harmonized to remove conflict. In our work with man, we must meet man halfway and guide the course in our Work. By doing so, we can further spiritual trends and harmonize individual conduct to further the Great Work of the magickal, spiritual and material evolution of mankind.
The moving “old” Yin line in the first place indicates that, as Initiates, we must not perpetuate the conduct which is causing the conflict. To do so poses danger and leads to disaster. How we lead our lives directly impacts how others will lead their lives. We are to serve as symbols of Light and Love, of strength and inner peace. In this way, we teach. When the Eye sincerely focused on Divine Love, we may enjoy the fruits of Earth and man while assisting others in rightly leading their lives. To perpetuate the conduct of man causing conflict is not in the Way of Love.
The 10th Hexagram reinforces everything which is said above as to the importance of the Great Work of the evolution of Initiates and the right conduct of Initiates as leading the conduct of others. We must resolve all into the standard of True Will and Love, and express that Will and Love. In this way, we fortify the thinking of the people by reassuring them that the differences in our conduct are in accord with Nature. We walk among man. We are all the Children of God – no exceptions. There is no reason to be irritated by the conduct of man. Take it all in stride. Although it may be difficult at times, meet others with good humor and manners. Act with right decorum. This further our success. There is no reason to hate or hurt. To the contrary, by Loving and evolving ourselves, we reduce conflict, help set things right and assist others in evolving for the good of all mankind.
O’ how wonderful is the message of the Auguries from the Gods, and how guiding are They in present times! Amen.

[1] The Ritual performed at the Sanctuary was similar to the ritual given in the paper entitled “A Ritual to Celebrate the Festival of the Equinox”, except it was adapted to the Magickal Formulae corresponding to Ygdrasil.
[2] At the Sanctuary, we recommend that Aspirants work with both of these Tarot decks (first and foremost, the Thoth deck but also the Rider-Waite deck), as well as the Atu or Trumps as drawn and colored by Paul Foster Case. This is to see the difference in the symbolism presented, which will give insight into the corresponding Mysteries.
