THE BLADE & THE CHALICE
(Revealed in the context of the Thelemic Pantheon)

whole of the Law.
The Blade is the Ancient Symbol of the Triangle with the apex pointed upwards. It is the Sigil of Fire.
The Chalice is the Ancient Symbol of the Triangle with the apex pointed downwards. It is the Sigil of Water.
We reveal these Holy Symbols in their most exalted sense in the context of the Thelemic Pantheon.
We speak first of the Blade, though it is the Chalice which precedes the Blade upon High.
The Blade is formed about the Ancient Tree of Life in Kether known as Ygdrasil. This has been referenced in other papers issued by the Sanctuary. The entire Universe below Kether is contained in the Malkuth of Ygdrasil as explained in other papers issued by the Sanctuary.
The Blade encompasses Ygdrasil, and forms the upper Supernal Plane in Briah. This Tree has its inception in the North, is shaped in the form of a Tau and is shown below:

SOUTH
The Three Forms of Energy are arranged about the Tau so that Alchemical Mercury is above the Square of the Holy One in the North, Alchemical Sulphur is slightly below and to the right of the Square of the Five in the South-East, and Alchemical Salt is slightly below and to the left of the Square of the Four.
The Elemental Formula of this Plane is Fire in the North, Air in the East, Water in the West and Earth in the South. From the Square of the One, all below is seen looking down the Tau. Thus, the Holy Sages of Ancient times faced South to pray.
All below proceeds
from the
Nuit and Hadit formulate the Chalice. The lower apex of the Chalice formulates Kether, and the Crowned Childe sitting on the Throne in Kether. Thus we see the lower apex of the Chalice intersecting with the upper apex of the Blade, and all proceeding from the Chalice.

As explained in another paper received and issued by the Sanctuary on this Holy Day (see “The Unveiling of Nuit – The Star Goddess”), Nuit formulates and moves even Hadit (the Male aspect of the Universe), as well as Ra-Hoor-Khuit. Thus we behold the Chalice as the Womb of Nuit, from which all Life and Light flow from Her Love.
All are aspects of Nuit. There is No-Thing in the Universe which is not of and from Her. Her Soul is the Yechidah, which is in all that was, is and is to come. The 30 Aires (or Aethyrs) show but aspects of Her Soul.
Behold Nuit, our Beloved Lady of the Stars, in Her Infinite Holiness and the Secret of the Holy Grail. Behold the Mystery of the First Aire, called LIL. May the Goddess be Known to the Children of Earth.
