OPENING AN ELEMENTAL TEMPLE

TO WORK WITH AN ELEMENTAL PATH

(Using the Thelemic Pentagram Formulae)

Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

The following is an example of a detailed ceremonial ritual to open an Elemental Temple to Work with a Path assigned a purely Elemental attribution (i.e., an “Elemental Path”). These Elemental Paths would be the Paths of Tau (Earth), Shin (Fire), Maim (Water) and Aleph (Air), listed here in the order they would be experienced on the Way of Return. Given the nature of this ritual, the Thelemic Pentagram Formulae is used. This will be particularly helpful to Aspirants in structuring their rites to Work with the Elemental Paths on the Yitziratic Tree of Life.

For purposes of this paper, it will be assumed that a Member of the First Order will be performing the Ritual. (Instructions to the Childe of Tiphareth are also provided at the end of this paper.) We proceed on this basis.

THE BANISHING EARTH PENTAGRAM RITUAL

· The Altar is placed slightly off center and towards the east so that, when you stand at the “Foot of the Altar” (west of the Altar facing east), you stand in the center of your Magick Circle.

· Perform the Lesser Banishing Earth Pentagram Ritual as follows:

o Start at the Foot of the Altar.

§ Stand up straight, hands to your side.

§ Take a moment to breathe deeply to commence the flow of the Holy Prana, and acknowledge the purpose of your Working.

o When you are ready, hold the hands open touching at the finger tips above your head to create a crescent over your head with the hands and arms (i.e., the Sign of Nuit) and utter – “NUIT”.

§ See Her above and about you.

o Keep the finger tips touching, lower the hands to your Heart Center (i.e., the Sign of Hadit), and utter - “HADIT”.

§ Acknowledge Hadit at the core of your Star.

o Make the Sign of Victory, separating the hands and raising them to heavens to form a “V” and utter – “HERU-RA-HA”.

§ Feel the Power of the Lord of the Aeon flowing through the core of your Star and your Vessel.

o Lower your hands into Praying Position (palms together with thumbs touching the chest and the fingers pointed to the chin), and utter - “AMEN”.

§ Acknowledge the embodied Little Tree and equilibrate your Sphere.

o Move to the eastern cardinal point on the perimeter of your Magick Circle.

§ Trace a Banishing Earth Pentagram (starting at the bottom left point of the Pentagram and moving to the top point, and proceeding from there).

§ Point to the center thereof and charge it in the Name – “AMESHET”, who is Son of Horus and the Kerub of Earth.

§ Assign the Sephira Malkuth and the Element of Earth to this quadrant of your Magick Circle.

o Move along the perimeter of your Magick Circle to the northern cardinal point, and stop there.

§ Trace a Banishing Earth Pentagram.

§ Point to the center thereof and charge it in the Name - “AHEPHI”, who is a Son of Horus and the Kerub of Air.

§ Assign the Sephira Yesod and the Element of Air to this quadrant of your Magick Circle.

o Move along the perimeter of your Magick Circle to the western cardinal point, and stop there.

§ Trace a Banishing Earth Pentagram.

§ Point to the center thereof and charge it in the Name - “DAUMUTEH”, who is a Son of Horus and the Kerub of Water.

§ Assign the Sephira Hod and the Element of Water to this quadrant of your Magick Circle.

o Move along the perimeter of your Magick Circle to the southern cardinal point, and stop there.

§ Trace a Banishing Earth Pentagram.

§ Point to the center thereof and charge it in the Name - “KABESHUNT”, who is a Son of Horus and the Kerub of Fire.

§ Assign the Sephira Netzach and the Element of Fire to this quadrant of your Magick Circle.

o Move along the perimeter of your Magick Circle to the eastern cardinal point to complete your Magick Circle, and return to the Foot of the Altar.

o Facing east, stand with arms outstretched in the Sign of the Cross, and say –

§ “Before me, the Holy Powers of the East.

§ Behind me, the Holy Powers of the West.

§ On my right hand, the Holy Powers of the South.

§ On my left hand, the Holy Powers of the North.

§ For about me flames the Pentagram.

§ And in the Center Shines the Crowned Childe.”

o Equillibrate your Magick Circle again, by repeating the opening Invocations of the Most High as follows:

§ Make the Sign of Nuit and utter – “NUIT”.

§ Make the Sign of Hadit, and utter – “HADIT”.

§ Make the Sign of Victory, and utter – “HERU-RA-HA”.

§ Lower your hands into Praying Position as a humble Childe, and utter – “AMEN”.

§ Acknowledge the embodied Little Tree and Formulae of your Magick Circle.

PURIFY & CONSECRATE YOUR MAGICK CIRCLE

See the paper entitled “The Purification & Consecration of the Sphere” and the “First Order Ceremonial Ritual of Initiation” as to how to perform these aspects of the Ritual.

· Purify your Magick Circle with the Holy Water.

· Consecrate your Magick Circle with the Holy Fire.

THE INITIAL DECLARATIONS

· From the Foot of the Altar, declare in a firm commanding voice –

o “The Temple is properly guarded.

o Let us now Work with the Path of [state the name of the Hebrew letter corresponding to the Path which is the subject of your Working, i.e., Tau, Shin, Maim or Aleph].”

PERFORM THE LESSER INVOKING RITUAL OF THE PENTAGRAM

· Perform the Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram corresponding with the Path which is the subject of your Working, as follows:

o Start at the Foot of the Altar.

§ Stand up straight, hands to your side.

§ Take a moment to breathe deeply to commence the flow of the Holy Prana, and acknowledge the intent of this stage of your Working.

o When you are ready, make the Sign of Nuit and utter – “NUIT”.

§ See Her above and about you.

o Make the Sign of Hadit, and utter - “HADIT”.

§ Acknowledge Hadit at the core of your Star.

o Make the Sign of Victory, and utter – “HERU-RA-HA”.

§ Feel the Power of the Lord of the Aeon flowing through the core of your Star and your Vessel.

o Lower your hands into Praying Position, and utter – “AMEN”.

§ Acknowledge the embodied Little Tree, the formulae of your Sphere and the intent to invoke as follows.

o Move to the eastern cardinal point on the perimeter of your Magick Circle.

§ Trace an Invoking Pentagram of the Element corresponding with the Path which is the subject of your Working (i.e., an appropriate “Invoking Elemental Pentagram”).

For Earth, start at top point of the Pentagram and move to the bottom left point, and proceed from there.

For Air, start at the middle right point of the Pentagram, and move across to the middle left point, and proceed from there.

For Water, start at the middle left point of the Pentagram, and move across to the middle right point, and proceed from there.

For Fire, start at the top point of the Pentagram and move to the bottom right point, and proceed from there.

§ Trace the Hebrew letter corresponding with the Path in the center of the Pentagram and charge the Pentagram by saying the Name of the Hebrew letter.

o Move along the perimeter of your Magick Circle to the northern cardinal point, and stop there.

§ Trace the same Invoking Elemental Pentagram you traced in the east.

§ Trace the same Hebrew letter you traced in the east in the center of the Pentagram and charge the Pentagram by saying the Name of the Hebrew letter.

o Move along the perimeter of your Magick Circle to the western cardinal point, and stop there.

§ Trace the same Invoking Elemental Pentagram you traced in the east.

§ Trace the same Hebrew letter you traced in the east in the center of the Pentagram and charge the Pentagram by saying the Name of the Hebrew letter.

o Move along the perimeter of your Magick Circle to the southern cardinal point, and stop there.

§ Trace the same Invoking Elemental Pentagram you traced in the east.

§ Trace the same Hebrew letter you traced in the east in the center of the Pentagram and charge the Pentagram by saying the Name of the Hebrew letter.

o Move along the perimeter of your Magick Circle to the eastern cardinal point to complete your Magick Circle, and return to the Foot of the Altar.

o Facing east -

§ Trace above the Altar the same Invoking Elemental Pentagram you traced in the east.

§ Trace the same Hebrew letter you traced in the east in the center of the Pentagram and charge the Pentagram by saying the Name of the Hebrew letter.

o Remaining at the Foot of the Altar, stand with arms outstretched in the Sign of the Cross, and say again –

§ “Before me, the Holy Powers of the East.

§ Behind me, the Holy Powers of the West.

§ On my right hand, the Holy Powers of the South.

§ On my left hand, the Holy Powers of the North.

§ For about me flames the Pentagram.

§ And in the Center Shines the Crowned Childe.”

o Equillibrate your Magick Circle again, by repeating the opening Invocations of the Most High as follows:

§ Make the Sign of Nuit, and utter – “NUIT”.

§ Make the Sign of Hadit, and utter – “HADIT”.

§ Make the Sign of Victory, and utter – “HERU-RA-HA”.

§ Lower your hands into Praying Position, and utter – “AMEN”.

§ Acknowledge the embodied Little Tree, the Formulae of your Magick Circle and the success of the invocations.

· Declare – “In the Holy Names spoken and adored here today, I declare this Temple opened unto the Path of [state the name of the Hebrew letter corresponding to the Path which is the subject of your Working, i.e., Tau, Shin, Maim or Aleph]!”

EQUILLIBRATE & EVOLVE

· Having duly invoked the Elemental Path which is the subject of your Working, sit and meditate in front of your Altar facing east and outwards towards the perimeter of your Magick Circle. (For the Childe of Tiphareth, the direction here is in front of your Altar, facing west.)

· Equillibrate the Energies of the Path which have been invoked, balancing and assimilating them in your Sphere.

· Gain experience with the Path.

o Skry the Path.

o Open a Portal to the Path using the corresponding Atu of Thoth and project your Sphere through the Portal and into the Path. If you perform a projection, close the Portal upon returning.

· During this stage of the Ritual, ask to and be Initiated into the corresponding Mysteries of the Path.

· Take as much time as you have, letting your mind be calm and free to receive.

THE CLOSING

· When you are done, proceed as follows.

· Take a Eucharist of the Energies of the Path invoked, if you have prepared one for your Working, giving thanks for the blessings you have received.

· Perform the Lesser Banishing Ritual of the Pentagram of the Element corresponding with the Path which is the subject of your Working, as follows:

o Start at the Foot of the Altar.

§ Stand up straight, hands to your side.

§ Take a moment to breathe deeply to commence the flow of the Holy Prana, and acknowledge the intent to close your Working.

o When you are ready, make the Sign of Nuit and utter – “NUIT”.

§ See Her above and about you.

o Make the Sign of Hadit, and utter - “HADIT”.

§ Acknowledge Hadit at the core of your Star.

o Make the Sign of Victory, and utter – “HERU-RA-HA”.

§ Feel the Power of the Lord of the Aeon flowing through the core of your Star and your Vessel.

o Lower your hands into Praying Position, and utter – “AMEN”.

§ Acknowledge the embodied Little Tree and formulae of your Sphere.

o Move to the eastern cardinal point on the perimeter of your Magick Circle.

For Water, start at the middle right point of the Pentagram, and move across to the middle left point, and proceed from there.

For Fire, start at the bottom right point of the Pentagram and move to the top point, and proceed from there.

§ Trace the Hebrew letter corresponding with the Path in the center of the Pentagram and charge the Pentagram by saying the Name of the Hebrew letter.

o Move along the perimeter of your Magick Circle to the northern cardinal point, and stop there.

§ Trace the same Banishing Elemental Pentagram you traced in the east.
