In the Teachings of the Sanctuary, you are
encouraged to Work with both the Traditional “Four Winds” Pentagram Formulae
and the Thelemic Pentagram Formulae.
(See the “Scroll of the Ritual of the Stars”, the “Guide to the Oaths of
Initiation” and the “Scroll of the Pentagram Formulae for the First
Order”.) In the course of your
experiments with both formulae, you may find that the Traditional Four Winds
Formulae is best for Elemental Workings, while the Thelemic Formulae is best
for Path Workings or Workings with the Sephiroth. This being the case, the following is an
example of a ceremonial rite to open the
For purposes of this paper, it is assumed that a Member of the First Order will be performing the Rite. We proceed on this basis.
PERFORM THE BANISHING EARTH PENTAGRAM RITUAL
·
The Altar is placed slightly off
center and towards the east so that, when you stand at the Foot of the Altar
(west of the Altar facing east), you stand in the center of your
· Perform the Lesser Banishing Earth Pentagram Ritual as follows:
o Start at the Foot of the Altar.
§ Stand up straight, hands to your side.
§ Take a moment to breathe deeply to commence the flow of the Holy Prana, and acknowledge the purpose of your Working.
o When you are ready, hold the hands open touching at the finger tips above your head to create a crescent over your head with the hands and arms and say – “NUIT”.
§ See Her above and about you.
o Keep the finger tips touching, lower the hands to your
§ Acknowledge Hadit at the core of your Star.
o Make the Sign of Victory, separating the hands and raising them to heavens to form a “V” and say – “HERU-RA-HA”.
§ Feel the Power of the Lord of the Aeon flowing through the core of your Star and your Vessel.
o Lower your hands into Praying Position (palms together with thumbs touching the chest and the fingers pointed to the chin), and say - “AMEN”.
§ Acknowledge the embodied Little Tree and equilibrate your Sphere.
o Move to the eastern cardinal point on the perimeter of your
§ Trace a Banishing Earth Pentagram (starting at the bottom left point of the Pentagram and moving to the top point, and proceeding from there).
§ Point to the center thereof and charge it in the Name – “YHVH” (pronounced Yod-Heh-Vau-Heh).
§
Assign the element of Air to this
quadrant of your
o Move along the perimeter of your
§ Trace a Banishing Earth Pentagram.
§ Point to the center thereof and charge it in the Name - “ADONAI”.
§
Assign the element of Fire to this
quadrant of your
o Move along the perimeter of your
§ Trace a Banishing Earth Pentagram.
§ Point to the center thereof and charge it in the Name - “EHEIEH” (also written “AHIH”).

Assign the element of Water to
this quadrant of your

§ Point to the center thereof and charge it in the Notariqon - “AGLA” (meaning “Ateh Gibor Le-Olam Adonai”, in English “To Thee be the Power unto the Ages O’ my Lord”).

Assign the element of Earth to
this quadrant of your
o Move along the perimeter of your
o Facing east, stand with arms outstretched in the Sign of the Cross, and say –
§ “Before me, RAPHAEL.

o Equillibrate your Magick Circle again, by repeating the opening Invocations of the Most High as follows:

THE INITIAL DECLARATIONS
· From the Foot of the Altar, declare in a firm commanding voice –
o The

· Make the Sign of the Element towards the east.
o These are given in the paper entitled “The Scroll of the Pentagram Formulae for the First Order” under the heading “The Pentagram Formula for the Dominis Liminis”.
PERFORM THE LESSER INVOKING RITUAL OF THE PENTAGRAM
· Perform the Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram as follows:
o Start at the Foot of the Altar.
§ Stand up straight, hands to your side.
§ Take a moment to breathe deeply to commence the flow of the Holy Prana, and acknowledge the intent of this stage of your Working.
o When you are ready, hold the hands open touching at the finger tips above your head to create a crescent over your head with the hands and arms and say – “NUIT”.

For Earth, start at top point of the Pentagram and move to the bottom left point, and proceed from there.
For Air, start at the middle right point of the Pentagram, and move across to the middle left point, and proceed from there.
For Water, start at the middle left point of the Pentagram, and move across to the middle right point, and proceed from there.
For Fire, start at the top point of the Pentagram and move to the bottom right point, and proceed from there.
§ Point to the center thereof and charge it in the Name – “YHVH” (pronounced Yod-Heh-Vau-Heh).

THE INVOCATION OF THE DIVINE HIERARCHY OF THE ELEMENT

Now turn to the quadrant of your
o If you are Working with the Element of Earth, you would now turn to the North (assigned Earth, and Earth of Earth).
o If you are Working with the Element of Air, you would now turn to the East (assigned Air, and Air of Air).
o If you are Working with the Element of Water, you would now turn to the West (assigned Water, and Water of Water).
o If you are Working with the Element of Fire, you would now turn to the South (assigned Fire, and Fire of Fire).

Move to the perimeter of your
· Trace the appropriate Invoking Spirit Pentagram.
o When Working with the Element of Earth or Water, you would trace an Invoking Passive Spirit Pentagram by starting at the bottom left point of the Pentagram and moving to the middle right point, and proceeding from there.
§ If you use the Passive Spirit Pentagram, point to the center thereof, and charge it in the Notariqon – “AGLA”
o When Working with the Element of Air or Fire, you would trace an Invoking Active Spirit Pentagram by starting at the bottom right point of the Pentagram and moving to the middle left point, and proceeding from there.
§ If you use the Active Spirit Pentagram, point to the center thereof, and charge it in the Name – “EHEIEH”.
· Remaining where you are, trace the appropriate Invoking Elemental Pentagram of the Element which is the subject of your Working.
o Point to the center thereof, and charge the Invoking Elemental Pentagram while saying – “In the Name of [insert the appropriate Name given below], Spirits of [identify the Element which is the subject of your Work – Earth, Air, Water or Fire] adore your Creator!”
§ For Earth - “ADONAI”.
§ For Air – “YHVH”.

· Remaining where you are, trace the same Invoking Elemental Pentagram again.
· Point to the center thereof, and charge the Invoking Elemental Pentagram while saying – “In the Name of [insert the appropriate Name given below], Great Archangel of [identify the Element which is the subject of your Work – Earth, Air, Water or Fire], Spirits of [identify the element which is the subject of your Working – Earth, Air, Water or Fire] adore your Creator!”
o For Earth - “AURIEL”.
o For Air – “RAPHAEL”.
o For Water – “GABRIEL”.
o For Fire – “MICHAEL”.
· Remaining where you are, trace the appropriate Kerubic Sigil in the center of your Invoking Elemental Pentagram.
o For Earth – This is the Sigil of the Zodiacal Sign of Taurus.
o For Air – This is the Sigil of the Zodiacal Sign of Aquarius.
o For Water – This is the Sigil of the Zodiacal Sign of Scorpio.
o For Fire – This is the Sigil of the Zodiacal Sign of Leo.
· Point to the center thereof, and charge the Invoking Elemental Pentagram again while saying – “In the Name of [insert the appropriate Name given below], Mighty Angel of [identify the Element which is the subject of your Work – Earth, Air, Water or Fire], Spirits of [identify the element which is the subject of your Working – Earth, Air, Water or Fire] adore your Creator!”
o For Earth - “PHORLAKH”.
o For Air – “CHASSAN”.
o For Water – “TALIAHAD”.
o For Fire – “ARAL”.
· Now touch the top/Spirit point of the Pentagram and, while doing so, say “In the Name of [insert the appropriate Name given below], Ruler of [identify the Element which is the subject of your Work – Earth, Air, Water or Fire], Spirits of [identify the element which is the subject of your Working – Earth, Air, Water or Fire] adore your Creator!”
o For Earth – “KERUB”.
o For Air – “ARIEL”.
o For Water – “TALIHAD”
o For Fire – “ARAL”.
· Return to the Foot of the Altar.
· Give the knocks of the Element which is the subject of your Working. For the First Order, these are as follows:
o For Earth, 3-4-3.
o For Air, 3-3-3.
o For Water, 4-4.
o For Fire, 3-1-3.

Declare - – “In the Name of

EQUILLIBRATE & EVOLVE

Having duly invoked the Element
which is the subject of your Working, sit and meditate in the quadrant assigned
to the Element and sub-element which is the subject of your Working facing out
towards the perimeter of your
· Equillibrate the Elemental Energies which have been invoked, balancing and assimilating them in your Sphere.
· Gain experience with the Element Energies in the process.
· Ask to and be Initiated in the corresponding Mysteries of the Element, letting your mind be calm so you may freely receive.
· Take as much time as you have.
THE CLOSING
· When you are done, proceed as follows.
· Take a Eucharist of the Element invoked, if you have prepared one for your Working, giving thanks for the blessings you have received.

· Close in the Sign of Silence, drawing all to a luminous point within on the inhalation of the Breath (perhaps while vibrating the Name – “HOOR-PA-KRAAT” on the inhalation), and releasing the energies of your Invocations back into the Universe on the exhalation of the Breath.
· Return to the world of man, transformed by your Holy Work. Amen.
As additional commentary, there is no need to slavishly adhere to detailed ceremonial rites. However, they help Aspirants learn Magick. What is important is to extrapolate the Magickal Formulae of any given rite, and to learn to use the proper formulae to perform and accomplish the Work at task.
Lastly, consider what is said in other papers issued by the Sanctuary (and specifically those referenced above) to integrate floor work into your Elemental Rites and evolve your own Ritual of the Stars.
