whole of the Law.
Right use of the formulae of the Hexagram is aptly described in the Sanctuary’s papers entitled the “Scroll of the Ritual of the Stars”, the “Guide to the Oaths of Initiation” and “Rites of Initiation for the Sephiroth”. Little else needs to be said. Once your Sphere has been rightly formulated according to the formula of the Plane of the working, an appropriate Hexagram may be traced or projected, whether in the center of your Sphere, or towards each quarter and then in the center of your Sphere, while calling “ARARITA” and the appropriate Holy Names (which have been given in the other papers mentioned). Whether one Hexagram is traced or five Hexagrams are traced is of little importance to the process of invocation. A single Hexagram traced in the center of your Sphere beams in all directions and will suffice. Some, however, may find, especially at first, that tracing a Hexagram in each quarter, and then in the center (thus connecting the 5 and the 6), aids the working. You are encouraged to experiment with both methods to determine what works best for you, and so you can comfortably work with both methods. Over time, you will likely find that use of a single Hexagram does the job.
Take note that, while the Pentagram is a “key” to initiation into the elements, the Hexagram is a “key” to initiation into Divinity from the perspective of the First and Second Orders. Divinity is initially perceived through the Spirit point of the Pentagram, which is the first Star a Childe will work with on the Way of Return using the Sanctuary’s System of Initiation. The Sphere of the Childe must be rightly organized on an elemental basis for Spirit to descend in the midst of the elements, to redeem, equilibrate and inform them in the most righteous manner. After the Sphere is organized on an elemental basis, the formulae of the Hexagram may then be employed. For this reason, a Pentagram ritual is traditionally performed before a Hexagram ritual. As explained in the Ritual of the Stars, these aspects of your working may be performed mentally or physically with equal success.
A quick note regarding banishings. You may find that performing a banishing ritual before an invoking ritual assists you in experiencing the current or force invoked. However, by no means is a banishing ritual required before every invocation. After the Sphere is rightly organized on an elemental basis, the invocations may proceed with success.
