Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Let Us now consider the Formulae of the Holy Garments.  In the Teachings and Practices of the Sanctuary, no robes are required (except for Ceremonial Initiations and certain other Ceremonial Work at the Sanctuary), but use of Holy Garments which are in correspondence with your Work is encouraged.

Consider that you are born with the all of the Spiritual Tools necessary for you to perform and accomplish your Great Work.  First and foremost, you have your Crown Jewels, yea your Natal Crown which animates you and shines forth the Glories of Light, Love, Liberty and Life through thee Childe.  You also have your True Elemental Tools or weapons.  These are evolved during the Initiation Process.  No-Thing else is needed.

When it comes to Magick Garments, Working “sky-clad” (i.e., clad with only the sky - naked) is encouraged when possible.  Even then, you are encouraged to drape a consecrated shawl around your neck and over your shoulders which has correspondence with your Work or for general Working purposes.  Consider then the color of the shawl or robe to be used.

For a Member of the First Order, a simple black shawl or robe (Tau or hooded) is appropriate as the Aspirant is climbing out of the darkness and into the Light by commencing the Holy Adventure of traversing the Royal Road.  If a robe is used, an appropriate lining, if any, would be purple, as this color has correspondence with the Supernal Realm and Nuit, which is the Childe’s ultimate Holy Goal.

When the Childe commences the Work of the Dominis Liminis, a light, thin white shawl would be added to drape over the black shawl or robe.  This shows the Childe’s Work with Spirit, which is descending upon the Childe to inform the elements of the Childe and open the path-way to the Second Order and the Attainment of the Knowledge and Conversation of the Holy Guardian Angel.

When commencing the Work of the Second Order as a Childe of Tiphareth, a simple white shawl or robe, perhaps lined with gold trim would be appropriate.  This shows the Childe’s Spiritual Work as part of the Sun-folk, and the evolution of the Childe as a Young King or Queen of Tiphareth.

When commencing the Work of the Childe of Geburah, a red cape lined with gold would be appropriate.  This is a symbol of the True Red Cape of the Magician which is conveyed by God when the Childe completes the Work of this Grade and does only True Will (and No-Thing else) in every thought, word and deed. The Red Cape may be worn on a sky-clad body or over the white robe of the Childe of Tiphareth.

When commencing the Work of the Childe of Chesed, the color is azure blue or sapphire.  A humble shawl in this color may be worn over the sky clad body.  Alternatively, a tau robe in this color would be appropriate and the Red Cape of the Magician may be worn over the top thereof.

As the Childe evolves from a Mighty King or Queen of Chesed into the Virgin Daughter (who Becomes Pure and Chaste, washed by Love), consider Working sky-clad as the most appropriate.

The robe for an Aspirant who is serving as a Hierophant for a Ceremonial Initiation is scarlet red trimmed with gold.

The shawl or robe for a Childe of Binah is black showing the Daughter’s return to the Mother, and that the Mother is the Daughter.

The shawl or robe for a Childe of Chokmah is grey (for Wisdom) or scarlet red (showing Will or the Fire of God).

Beyond Chokmah, consider the sky-clad body as most appropriate or a purple shawl or robe trimmed with gold (showing forth the Loving Interaction of Nu and Had in the Revealing of Nuit and Hadit).

The Holy Garments are always humble, as you are reminded to always be humble in your Work at all times.

Other Holy Garments may be appropriate for more particular types of Ceremonial Workings or Mystickal Work, or when you are assuming a particular role in a Working.  Your Genius will be your Guide in these matters as you prepare for the Work.

Holy Garments are encouraged, even if they are a set of clothes (like yoga pants and a tee shirt) which are adorned and used solely for dedicated periods of Holy Work.   Especially initially, these will help the Aspirant focus the Eye and Aspiration rightly on the Love of Nu and the Work to be performed, and aid in the Expression of the Magickal Personality of the Childe.

You are, in Truth, a Star.  Allow your Holy Garments to Be an Expression of your Spiritual Being from the perspective of your Attainments and Travels along the Royal Road, and adorn them as an Act of Love and Devotion to your God and the Great Work.  Amen.

Love is the Law, Love under Will.
