Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

The Holy Oil is used in consecration. In the magickal practices of the Sanctuary, it is kept in the physical Temple on a white triangle on the Holy Altar. The apex of the white triangle generally points in the direction you are facing in your Holy Rites. Therefore, up through the Work of the Childe of Tiphareth, the apex of the white triangle will point east. This corresponds with the Blue Ascending Triangle of Nuit on the lower Astral Plane. When the Childe is admitted to the upper Astral Plane, or Solar Plane, the apex of the white triangle will point west. This corresponds with the triangle of the Heavenly Hexagram which connects to Kether, Chesed and Geburah. Higher yet, this corresponds with Supernal Triangle of Kether, Chokmah and Binah. As the Childe evolves, the apex of the triangle is turned to the North to point to the Holy One in Ygdrasil, which is aptly described in other papers issued by the Sanctuary, even though the Childe will generally be facing South when working from the Square of the Holy One on the Tau in Ygdrasil.

There are many different ways to prepare the Holy Oil. Most simply, pure virgin olive oil may be used. At the Sanctuary, we prefer to use the Anointing Oil described by Moses in the Tanakh (Exodus 30:22-25), which involves a blending of pure myrrh, sweet cinnamon, sweet calamus (cane) and cassia, with olive oil. The various formulae for preparing Abramelin Oil are adaptations of the formula from the Tanakh. We encourage you to investigate the variant formulae and formulate a blend which is best for you to use in your Work.
