Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

Liberty is one of the Four Glories of Thelema, yea one of the Four Glories of God, attributed to the Element of Air and the Air Tide (in which this paper is Scribed). It speaks to an Expression of the Liberty and Freedom of God to Act, through the Children and otherwise. Yea, we all feel that Call to Freedom, that prompting to be Truly Free. It is part of us, and Inspires Action.

How may we be Truly “Free”? The Royal Path of Initiation will take you there. To be Truly Free, we must evolve, Magickally, Spiritually and Materially. We must balance ourselves continually and Climb the Tree of Life, ridding ourselves of our lower parts, yea even sacrificing the Holy Guardian Angel along the Holy Way. The evolving Initiate so ardently Aspires to attain the Knowledge & Conversation of the Holy Guardian. Once attained, the Initiate seemingly “wrestles” with the Guide and Counsel of the Angel as the Initiate further evolves and learns to do only True Will. This is not, however, enough. Even once attained, a further Purification is required to produce a Mighty King or Queen, and the Virgin Daughter. Yea, is not repeated and continual Purification and Consecration to the Great Work at each Step along the Royal Road the crux of our Holy Art.

What is to be attained? True Liberty – God operating through the Childe in a perfectly transparent fashion, without interruption of lower reflections. Initiates are encouraged to ask questions to get the answers. However, as stated in other papers issued by the Sanctuary, the answer precedes the question in Truth. Your Eye is simply being opened to the answer in being prompted to ask the question.

What is the result? Ultimately, no more questioning is necessary. Non-Being and Being in Loving Interaction Express Themselves through the Childe. To this end, some teachings of Zen Buddhism may help illustrate the state, which is to be attained as Initiation evolves.

Consider a spontaneous life, where we go ahead without hesitation (mo chih ch’u), without purpose (wu-wei), with lack of affection for any particular course and with great simplicity (wu-shih). No specific course of action is implied or desired, as it has no purpose or motivation. However, with the Eye ever fixed on God and the Great Work, the Childe turns unhesitatingly to the Work that is presented to be done.

The goal is to Work with “wobbling” between alternatives. Does not Liber Legis counsel us about stopping and asking “Why”?!

We Work out of Holy Duty, by and for God, and without seeking rewards. The Kisses of Nuit rain hard upon those who so Work. This is the right attitude towards the Work, which will assist and further the Initiation process.

At the early stages of Initiation, questions must be asked. Once the Voice is heard, however, it is not enough to hear the Voice, the Initiate must act on it. Questioning the Voice and seemingly acting contrary to it creates dis-ease or discomfort. The Initiate must learn that the Chosen Way is always Righteous, which will be shown to the Initiate.

The spontaneous life described above speaks to something known in our Royal Art as “transparency”, to be a perfectly transparent Vessel for God to Act through. In so serving God, in performing the Great Work appointed, we are Truly Free, and experience True Liberty, yea a Glory of God. Amen.

Love is the Law, Love under Will.
