The Ritual of the Crown is a simple rite designed to be performed at the inception of any Magickal or Mystical Work. It is a Ritual of the Sanctuary of Thoth, and is recommended for all Aspirants of Magick. It assists in raising your consciousness to your Higher Genius, to receive guidance as to your Holy Work. A great deal can be learned by the study of this simple ritual, which proceeds as follows:
1. Stand in the Center of your Holy Space.
2. Formulate
the
3. Formulate the Zodiacal Belt around your Holy Space.
4. Recognize the Unity of the Crown.
5. Trace the Holy Cross of the Crown, saying - “May the Light and Love of the Crown move me ever so rightly in the Holy Work. Amen.”
Proceed with your other Magickal and Mystical Work.
Notes regarding the Ritual of the Crown:
Each of the five steps of this Ritual are discussed below.
1. Stand in the Center of your Holy Space.
The Ritual may be performed
anywhere. Nothing is needed. You could be in your physical
Aspirants will generally face east when performing the Ritual. This may change for Members of the Second Order who have attained to more exalted heights for reasons given in the Guide to the Oaths of Initiation.
2. Formulate the Natal Crown upon your head.
This will require you to know your Rising Sign, which is the Zodiacal Sign in the east (on the ascendant) at the time of your birth. In formulating the Natal Crown, consider each Zodiacal Sign as a Jewel of Light, colored as follows:

In simplest terms, the Jewels of your Natal Crown are arranged so that the Jewel corresponding with your Rising Sign is fixed in the front of the Crown, and then the rest of the Jewels proceed to the left around the Crown in the order of the Zodiac. So, for example, if your Rising Sign is Libra, the Jewel in the front would be Emerald Green; moving to the left, the next Jewel would be Blue-Green for Scorpio, then Blue for Sagittarius, then Indigo for Capricorn and so on until the Circle of your Crown is complete.
The Natal Crown is fixed upon your head and does not move. Accordingly, you will likely have a tendency to see into the Planes in the color given above corresponding to your Rising Sign, at least at first.
It is recommended that you obtain a Natal Chart on yourself, if you have not already done so. The Natal Chart will show your Rising Sign, as well as the position of the Planets in the Zodiac at the time of your birth. This will give you insight into your Starry composition and nature. Further, it is recommended that Aspirants of Magick initially learn Astrology in the context of studying their own Natal Chart, not for purposes of divination, but to learn about their True Self and the forces we have to work with in our rites.
3. Formulate the Zodiacal Belt around your Holy Space.
This is formulated about the
perimeter of your
4. Recognize the Unity of the Crown.
The Crown is ever one, and cannot be divided.
5. Trace the Holy Cross of the Crown, saying - “May the Light and Love of the Crown move me ever so rightly in the Holy Work. Amen.”
This is done using the Magick Wand. Alternatively, if you do not have a physical Magick Wand, simply use the fingers in the Sign of Benediction to assist the visualization. You reach up, touch the Kether above your head, then trace a bar of the Cross down to touch the Crown, trace a bar to the left and then to the right across the Crown, then back to center, then trace a bar down the center touching your Solar Plexus, then back up to touch the center of Crown, when the Holy Words are spoken.
The Sign of Benediction is made by pointing the index and middle fingers, laying the thumb across them, and curling the other fingers to the palm.
What is referred to above is your Holy Crown Jewels, given to you at birth and more precious than any thing you possess. May you come to realize this and the Crown that has been placed upon your head, and work in the Light and Love of that Crown.
