Do what thou Wilt shall be the whole of the Law.

In the Teachings of the Sanctuary, an Aspirant is encouraged to Work with the Stars and Symbols given in an appendix to the Scroll of the Ritual of the Stars and the Guide to the Oaths of Initiation which have correspondence with the Childe’s Work under Oath.  No stone should be left unturned in your Travels along the Royal Road.  To gain experience and further your Initiation, you are encouraged to investigate and Work with all of the Stars and Symbols given in those papers.  These include the Tattwas, which have correspondence with the Elements.  They, therefore, are properly the subject of Elemental Work through the Work of the Childe of Tiphareth.

Much has been written elsewhere about the Tattwas, which you are encouraged to seek out and review to gain insight (and re-review as your Initiation and Perspective evolves.)

To ceremonially Work with a Tattwa, open an Elemental Temple using the Traditional “Four Winds” Pentagram Formula.  (See the paper issued by the Sanctuary which is similarly titled.)  This should be done through the point of performing the Lesser Invoking Ritual of the Pentagram and invoking Nuit.  Instead of Calling the Divine Hierarchy of the Element which has been invoked, move to the perimeter of your Magick Circle which has correspondence with the Element.  Place an image of the corresponding Tattwa before you within your Magick Circle.  In simplest form, these may be drawn on fresh white paper as follows:

Earth Tattwa (named Prithivi) – Yellow Square

Air Tattwa (named Vayu) – Blue Circle

Water Tattwa (named Apas) – Silver Crescent

Fire Tattwa (named Tejas) – Red Triangle

Spirit Tattwa (named Akasa) – Indigo Egg.

Alternatively, you may project an image of the Tattwa Symbol before you.

Now trace a fifth Invoking Pentagram in proper correspondence in front of the Tattwa Symbol, and charge it calling the Name of the Tattwa.

Concentrate deeply on the Tattwa Symbol.  Stare at it intensely.  You may now Work with the Tattwa Symbol as drawn or projected.  Alternatively, if you are moved to do so, move the Eye to the right or left of the Tattwa Symbol, and now see the Symbol in the opposite color light.  (This will happen naturally after deep concentration on the Symbol.)  Accordingly, you would now see:

Prithivi as a Violet Square

Vayu as a Orange Circle

Apas as a Black Crescent

Tejas as a Green Triangle

Akasa as a Yellow Egg.

In either case, enlarge the Tattwa Symbol to form a Portal to the Plane of the Element invoked.  See yourself in or sitting on the Tattwa Symbol.  After doing do so for some time, when you are ready, project through the Portal created by the Tattwa Symbol and into the Elemental Plane.

When you are in the Elemental Plane, stop and call the Divine Hierarchy corresponding with the Element invoked for aid in your Work.  (These hierarchies are given in the paper referenced above.)  Vibrate the Name of the Tattwa repeatedly as needed, or use it as a mantra, to keep your Eye intensely focused on your Work and Travel.  Gain experience with the Elemental Plane, and the Creatures thereof.  Equilibrate and evolve.

When you are done, return through the Portal, close it by absorbing it, give thanks for the gifts you have received (and take care to use them wisely and well), and proceed with “The Closing” given in the paper referenced above.

A great deal can be learned from Working with the Tattwas as described above.  May you do so ever so rightly to further your Work, leaving no stone unturned in your Travels along the Royal Road.  Amen.

Love is the Law, Love under Will.
